Congrats to Sam, Brian, and Eric!
Sam Decker, former Bazaarvoice CMO, Brian Dainton, and Eric Falcao have launched Mass Relevance. The start-up aims to use their “proprietary software to cull relevant streams from sites such as Twitter and Facebook. They plan to then incorporate the streams into more traditional media like television and the web. Decker was quoted in a recent Austin American Statesman article regarding having already raised $2 million for the venture from Austin Ventures as well as Floodgate.
Dell, No. 3 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide has today lost it’s CMO to Austin-based user generated content powerhouse Bazaarvoice. Erin M. Nelson, who has been CMO at Dell since 2009 will leave that spot within the next few weeks to join BV as CMO, a spot which was most recently held by Sam Decker, who was also at Dell, but not as CMO, prior to joining BV as “the third founder”.
CEO of Bazaarvoice , Brett Hurt speaks highly of Nelson in this recent Internet Retailer article/release re: the new CMO:

Hurt has mentioned IPO in several recent articles. This CMO move seems to help mold his C-suite to be more ready for a big public play.
This is not really new news, but I had not posted it as it happened while my blog was in transition. Speaking of transitions, anyone want to guess what Sam will do after he leaves Bazaarvoice?
