2010 Austin ADDYs – Here’s the info!


The 2010 Austin ADDY Awards Show hosted by the Austin Advertising Federation


Austin is a red hot creative community, and the Austin ADDY Awards are the regional gateway to the ad industry’s largest and most competitive creative competition, the national ADDY Awards, which draw over 60,000 entries nationwide.


Friday, February 12th, 7 pm


The historic and iconic Seaholm Power Plant (www.seaholm.info) at 214 West Avenue is the cornerstone in an edgy redevelopment to unite a piece of Austin’s unique history with its vibrant future.


The 2010 Austin ADDYs will showcase Austin’s best creative advertising work, and applaud the winners who go on to regional and national glory.

Over 500 industry pros are expected as well as industry luminaries and powerhouses like McGarrah/Jessee and GSD&M. In recent years Austin has done exceptionally well in national ADDY competition, three times placing second only to New York City.

This year’s party will be at the picturesque Seaholm Power Plant, kicking off with a cocktail mixer and gallery showing of this year’s submissions, featuring multiple plasma screens to display broadcast and interactive entries.

Winning submissions will be announced during the brief awards show followed by a congratulatory, get-your-grove-on after-party.


With el john Selector, known for his amazing collaborations with Thievery Corporation, controlling the pulse of the party, along with a full-service cash bar and onsite ATM and free valet parking ensure that a good time will be had by all.

Austin ADDYs – Winners

“It was neck and neck between GSD&M and McGarrah/Jessee this year. GSD&M led with 31 ADDYs, including 1 Best of Show, 9 Gold, 8 Silver and 13 Bronze; McGarrah/Jessee took second with 30, including 3 Best of Show, 14 Gold, 8 Silver and 5 Bronze. Kolar Advertising also had an impressive number of ADDYS with 17, including 2 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze.

– GSD&M/Idea City won Best of Show Broadcast TV for their Southwest Airlines “Wanna Get Away — Car Wash” TV spot.

– McGarrah/Jessee took Best of Show Print for the Shiner “Brewery Worker” campaign; Regan Bradshaw Photography Award for Costa del mar Catalog; and a Special Judges Award – Best in Brand for the Spoetzl Brewery Shiner Brand.

– Action Figure took Best of Show Interactive for their hard hitting “Punches” video, and Enviromedia Social Marketing took Best of Show Broadcast Radio for their “Department of State Health Services/OTPC” radio spots.

– Other Gold and Silver ADDY winners include Sherry Matthews Advocacy Marketing, Enviromedia Social Marketing, Shiny Object, Springbox and TKO Advertising.

– The Best of Show Student Award went to UT Students Jessica Engle and Caitlin Miller for their Benjamin Moore entry. Students from Texas State University and Austin Community College also won student ADDYs.

– A special award, the Johnny Jones Excellence in Printing Award went to The Whitley Printing Company – nFusion for their Hill Country Ride for AIDS Poster Campaign 2008.

– Gold Austin ADDY winners move on to regional competition. Winners there are forwarded to the national ADDYs, one of the nation’s most competitive juried shows with over 60,000 entries and only 200 awards. In recent years Austin has done exceptionally well in national ADDY competition, three times placing second only to New York City in national ADDYs, well out of proportion to the size of the market.”
