New Tag-line for Adomatica March 09

I’m tired of posting about layoffs.
Sure, it drives traffic to my blog.
Sure, it is a bit fun to get people worked up.
Sure, I could do those things without mentioning every ad agency layoff.

So, at least for now, I’m done…not done posting here, but done with layoff postings.

Hope to see you at SXSWi…please say hello…hug or handshake…it’s your call.

  1. I think this is a bad idea, not just for traffic reasons.

    1) If you want to be a news source you have to report the news. Layoffs are news. You don’t have to be a jerk when reporting them, just report them.

    2) I know a lot of people turn to this site for ad news in Austin. Smaller layoffs and rumors in Austin won’t make it to Agency Spy, et al so it’s nice to have a local site for that.

    3) There are a lot of people looking for jobs right now. It helps knowing who’s doing layoffs so you don’t send a resume there.

  2. True, you don’t want to screw it up fella. There really isn’t a central place to get this type of information on the Austin market. And we are so self absorbed. We want more and more. We don’t just want to hear about layoffs, although the inside gossip on many threads can be fun to read. But maybe we want to gather more information, like what people are working on or what they want to work on, what they are trying to push at their sordid agencies, or maybe learn what type of car Gaddis drives down Rio Grande.

  3. Smug = Exhibiting or feeling great or offensive satisfaction with oneself or with one’s situation; self-righteously complacent.

People who know me know I’m not smug, well, at least not that smug.

Anonymous = by someone whose name is unknown or withheld – having no known name – lacking distinguishing characteristics.

Do you have no known name or do you lack distinguishing characteristics beyond your want to cause bodily harm on me?
