Michael Roberts, chair person of the 2009 Austin ADDYS, called me tonight to talk a bit about the 2009 ADDYS.
Adomatica: What’s the theme of this year’s ADDYS?
Michael: This year we’re trying something a bit different. This year it is not about a theme but is about the actual creative. Its about the people and the projects. Check out the website “Show Yourself”, it’s plain and simple. It says, hey, this event is about the agencies and the work.
Adomatica: That’s great, so can I say that the theme is “The Austin ADDYS a.k.a. The GSD&M and McGarrah Jessee Show”
Michael: Well, I’m sure people are thinking that, but this year over 20 different agencies have won awards. I’m not saying that GSD&M or McGarrah Jessee didn;t win any awards, but this year is definitely not a night about them.
Adomatica: Have the winners been notified?
Michael: No, but many people have gotten emails form us suggesting that it would be a good idea for them to attend. People should pay attention to the suggestion.
Adomatica: What are all the details?
The 2009 Austin ADDYs puts Austin’s best creative advertising on display. This year’s show is all about the work and the people who create it. No themes, no gimmicks, just a celebration of another year of hard work by those in the Austin advertising community. Cocktails, of course, will be served. See you at the show.
