Social Media Usage Up

Just got an email from with this interested bit of social media info:

“Social Media Up
Sixty percent of Americans interact with companies on a social media Web site, and one in four interacts more than once per week. These findings are from the 2008 Cone Business in Social Media Study. Ninety-three percent of Americans believe a company should have a presence in social media; 85% believe a company should not only be present but also interact with its consumers via social media.”

Given how present these technologies are in their lives, do young people act, think and learn differently today? And what are the implications for education and for society? MacArthur will encourage this discussion, fund research, support innovation, and engage those who can make judgments about these difficult but critical questions
